Spring Swim Lesson Registration
Start Dates
Residents currently enrolled - Monday, June 1
Residents - Wednesday, June 3
Non-residents currently enrolled - Monday, June 8
Open Registration - Tuesday, June 9

Fall Land-based Registration
Start Dates
Residents - Monday, June 1
Non-residents - Monday, June 8

Enrollment will continue in all classes until they are full or
until the class has started. Late enrollments may be
allowed but are not pro-rated.


SUMMER CAMP INFORMATION
Day and Mini camp are scheduled to begin on June 29 and continue for 4, two week sessions, ending on August 21.
Mini camp is available for potty trained 3-year olds through 3rd grade, from     9:00am-12:30pm. Bus transportation to camp is available at an additional cost. Early stay is available at an additional cost.
Day camp is for children who have completed kindergarten through 5th grade, from 9:00am- 4:00pm. Bus transportation to and from camp is available at an additional cost. Early and late stay is available at an additional cost. 
The Travelin’ Teens camp is for children who have completed 6th through 9th grade. Camp runs for 8, one week sessions. Most trips are from 9:00am-4:00pm. Bus transportation to and from camp is available at an additional cost. Early and late Stay is available at an additional cost.                          

Registration for Travelin’ Teens began on April 20th
Registration for Day and Mini camp began on April 27th

Registration for non-residents begins on April 27th for Travelin’ Teens, and May 4th for Day and Mini camp.

 NEW PROGRAMS

CHALLANGER BRITISH SOCCER CAMP                                                                                                          (Monday 7/6-Friday 7/10)
This camp selects qualified and talented coaches from Britain who
trained specifically for these camps. Each member of the staff has
a genuine interest in helping each player develop and providing
them with a memorable and positive experience. Each camper receives
a free t-shirt and soccer ball. Always remember to bring a soccer ball,
shin guards, sunscreen and plenty of water each day.                                     Camp Programs
First Kicks (Ages 3 to 4)
Young players are introduced to game basics through fundamental
activities, games and fun soccer challenges. One hour a day for
five days. Parents are encouraged to join in and help guide their
child through this fun learning experience.
Mini-Soccer (Ages 4 to 6)
Fun games, competitions and skill-building activities are designed
to enlighten and develop budding players. One-and-a-half hours a day
for five days.
Half-Day Player Development Camps (Ages 6 to 16)
Emphasis is placed upon skill development and mastery of core techniques through individual and small group practices and coached games. This all action camp is the most popular program. Three hours a day for five days.
Full Day Player Development Camps (Ages 8 to 18)
A more advanced camp for serious players. Full-day camps focus on
game-related techniques, tactical development and coached match play.
Six hours a day for five days.
Golden Goals (6 to 14 year olds) 2 hours per day, Mon-Thurs
Special bonus camp for half day campers. Includes fun competitions and scrimmages.

MINI FREDDY’S BALLROOM DANCING SUMMER CLUB
Both males and females are welcome!     Ages 7-11
This course will introduce children to the concept
of ballroom dancing in a group environment by using
familiar theme songs and props. Children will be
introduced to Swing, Cha Cha, Salsa, Merrengue and
Tango/Waltz. No partners necessary.

 Current Closings / Cancellations:

 Any weather related closing will be posted on this Website.  If the Orange schools are closed for any reason, any activity scheduled in those buildings will automatically be canceled.

Activities at High Plains will be canceled at the discretion of the Parks and Recreation Department.  Please check before leaving for a class.
 
REMINDER:
The Parks and Recreation department does not cancel games at Old Tavern Park unless the fields are deemed unplayable.  Please go to www.orangelittleleague.com after 2pm for cancellations.
 
The Parks and Recreation Department does not cancel Orange Soccer Association games scheduled for Sundays.  Please contact them for any questions or concerns about play.
 

Swim Lesson Credits:
Saturday Lessons, the 11:50 class has received one credit, and the 11:05 class havs received a 1/2 credit for their missed classes.
Credits may be used, at any time, for another swim lesson registration.

CT Trails Day                                                                                        Saturday, June 6, 2009     All Day    Raindate: June 13                                                                       Housatonic Overlook and Tucker's Ridge, Orange, CT                                             Derby Milford Rd. to Wheelers Farms, right on Herbert St., then follow signs.

Guides available from 10:00am-3:00pm                                                              All ages welcome. Approximately 1 1/4 miles (a leisurely hour). Bring water, snack or lunch. Wear sturdy shoes or hiking boots. Dogs are okay on leash.

NEW MEMBERSHIP CARDS FOR THE FITNESS CENTER AND POOL ARE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE ON AUGUST 15.  ALL MEMBERS MUST HAVE VALID CARDS BY SEPTEMBER 1.
UPDATED FITNESS CENTER FORMS ARE AVAILABLE FOR PICK UP AT THIS TIME.

The Orange Parks and Recreation Department has two "unlimited use" memberships available for purchase; a Pool membership and a Fitness Room membership.
 
-Memberships may be purchased in the Park and Recreation Office from 8:30am-6:00pm, 
Monday - Friday.
-Proof of residency is required for residents (i.e. -license, tax bill).  A photo of each person receiving a pass is needed at the time of registration.
-Senior (65 years or over) memberships are free to Orange residents but must be renewed annually at the Parks and Recreation office. Proof of age is required.
-Memberships are valid from date of purchase until the end of August 2008.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Park and Recreation Department is to maintain designated parklands in the Town and to provide a comprehensive array of high quality recreation and athletic programs on a year-round basis. The target population includes all residents of the Town, non-residents with more than $1000 of assessable property in Town, and non-residents who are full-time employees of Orange based employers.
